The North American Regional Office of the World Student Christian Federation expresses its deep sorrow for the feelings of panic, loss, sorrow, and anger being experienced among the members of the Virginia Tech community.

WSCF-affiliated students from across North America and around the world stand with all of those affected by the shooting at Virginia Tech. We are, like you, devastated by this shooting and the many ways in which violence shockingly enters all of our lives, and we know the deep hurt and loss that violence causes. During this difficult time, we offer our deepest sympathy to the students and campus community of Virginia Tech, the communities of Blacksburg and Centreville, VA, the families of all of those who were killed or wounded, and the family of the shooter.

Above all, it is our prayer that a spirit of reconciliation, hope, and a belief in all that is good about the human spirit can triumph in the face of such desperation and destructiveness. It is our hope that people of all faiths affected by this shooting will find comfort in their communities, their families, and their friends. Our prayer is the prayer of St. Francis—that we may all become instruments of peace, and work to heal the many types of wounds that this shooting has created.

We stand with you now and in the days to come.
