Rev. Dr Letty Russell

 

A long-time member of the WCC’s Faith and Order Commission and one of the most renowned women theologians in the world, Rev. Dr Letty Russell, 77, died Thursday, 12 July, at her home in Guilford, Conn., USA. 

Rev. Dr Russell “has left her mark on the World Council of Churches,” WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia wrote in a letter to Dr. Shannon Clarkson, the partner of Rev. Dr Russell. 

She was the visionary behind the Doctor of Ministries in Feminist Theologies programme which she helped set up as a joint project between the WCC theological education programme and San Francisco Theological Seminary, USA, Kobia wrote.
