Throughout the disaster area homes were marked after being searched. The letters in the middle indicate which agency searched the home. The numbers at the top indicate the date of the search (9/12). This photo shows a style different than the standard markings. There are usually numbers below and to the right of the middle circle, indicating how many were found deceased and alive (respectively).
