Ecumenical Office Volunteer

The US Conference for the World Council of Churches seeks a dedicated part-time office volunteer to become a key member of its New York office.
The US Conference for the World Council of Churches (USCWCC) supports the World Council of Churches (WCC) in its goal of promoting Christian unity in faith, witness and service for a more just and peaceful world. The WCC the broadest and largest ecumenical fellowship of churches in the world, bringing together 348 Protestant, Orthodox, Anglican, and other churches representing more than 560 million Christians in over 110 countries.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the global ecumenical movement, and will be able to answer “YES” to the following questions:
- Would you appreciate meeting fellow ecumenists from churches around the country and around the world?
- Would you enjoy providing ecumenical hospitality to overseas visitors – church leaders, young adults, visiting scholars and others?
- Are you someone who has the gift of being able to size up immediate needs and respond efficiently and gracefully to whatever the day brings in a small office where you would be working closely with a variety of staff, volunteers and interns?
- Are you willing to answer the phones, mail resource material, make coffee, draft routine correspondence, do some filing, tend to an ecumenical library, help out with meetings and travel arrangements, host visitors?
- Do you have basic computer skills (word processing, email)? Can you make copies, send faxes, compile meeting folders, sort mail?
- Do you have a compassionate heart, a sense of humor, strong faith and lots of common sense?
Volunteers will receive training and support from office staff, and will be a valued part of a unique global organization. Applicants must be available for at least eight hours of work per week during the office hours of 9:00-5:00 Monday-Friday.
